FUN FILLED AFTERNOON AT THE FAMILY FUN DAY

Local families are gearing up for an afternoon of fun filled activities at the second Family Fun Day to be hosted at The Ponds on Sunday 14 March from 2.30 – 5.30pm.

Thousands of people from the local community are expected to attend the action packed afternoon that will take place in front of The Ponds Sales & Display Centre on Riverbank Drive.

“A Family Fun Day was held at The Ponds to launch the new suburb and its display village with 15 quality homes almost two years ago. More than 4,000 people participated in the festivities. As a direct result of positive feedback from the community, Landcom and Australand will host a similar fun day this year,” said Kerry Robinson, General Manager Development at Landcom.

“This year’s event is expected to again attract a significant crowd, further showcasing the fastest selling development in New South Wales. The Fun Day will carry a water theme to reinforce one of the key features at The Ponds compared to other residential developments.”

There will be plenty of entertainment options for the family to enjoy including a special 30 minute show featuring Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags, Captain Feathersword and host Fairy Clare, jazz band – Blue Train, stalls, roving entertainers, face painting, a tiger jumping castle, train ride, water bumper boats and a free sausage sizzle.

A new event has also been added to the program this year – land boat races for adults and children comprising two and three person crews. Participants are to construct a boat prior to the day that will surround the entire crew for the duration of the race from materials such as cardboard, paper, newspaper, fabric, tape and twine.

“The local community has been very busy building colourful hand-made land boat creations which are set to be a major crowd pleaser at this year’s event for both adults and children alike. Several thousand dollars and incentive prizes are on offer in the various categories,” added Mr Robinson.

The winning three person crew in the open boat race will receive $1,200 in prize money, which will be donated to a club or charity of their choice, plus three yearly Gold memberships to Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope. A further four $100 cash prizes are on offer for the most imaginatively presented boats and crews in the 100 metre race.

The Ponds is a 320 hectare master-planned community which is being developed by Landcom and Australand. It will comprise over 3,000 homes when complete.
