Known as the Eco-Living Display Village, the primary aim of the project is to connect everyday homebuyers with the idea of creating more sustainable homes, which are not only environmentally friendly, but affordable, manageable and attainable.
Clarendon will create three designs that meet the sustainability outcomes determined by Landcom. They will demonstrate new technologies and features that can be incorporated into residential homes and encourage sustainable living and more efficient energy use.
Work has already commenced on the first home, known as the Benchmark home. This home will be a six star home, and will demonstrate easy ideas new buyers can incorporate into the design of their homes.
Homes two and three will push the current best practices in sustainable home design. Home two, the Greencycle home will be an eight star home and aims to be constructed out of renewable and recyclable products. Home three, the Net-Zero home will have a ten star rating. It is set to be so environmentally friendly, it aims to generate zero emissions and leave no impact on the environment; a symbol of the future of residential homes.
Each home will be built and launched to the public throughout 2011:
- Six Star home: Due to open in July 2011
- Eight Star home: Due to open in Spring 2011
- Ten Star home: Due to open late 2011
