Residents living in North Western Sydney today received a welcome boost with the completion of Stanhope Parkway in The Ponds, representing an important milestone for the community living in the area.
The final section of this project is the first piece of infrastructure in the North West Growth Centre under the State Government’s Infrastructure Contribution Plan.
Landcom has constructed Stanhope Parkway from the Conrad Road roundabout at Stanhope Gardens through to Hambledon Road, Schofields; the project involved a new bridge and three sets of traffic lights. The total value of these works within The Ponds including Second Ponds Creek Bridge is an investment of over $15 million.
Carmen Osborne, Development Director from Landcom comments, “The opening of this road allows residents living in the area to more easily move from east to west, saving valuable travel time. Quakers Hill and Schofields residents to the west can now reach suburbs on the east of Second Ponds creek, including The Ponds and Stanhope Gardens.”
“They can also access major retail and community facilities including Rouse Hill Town Centre, Stanhope Village shops, Blacktown Leisure Centre and the new Dennis Johnson library complex. With the opening of Stanhope Parkway, the recently upgraded Quakers Hill train station is accessible within 10 minutes from The Ponds and Stanhope Gardens.”
“The North Western region of Sydney, particularly The Ponds represents some of the fastest growing areas in New South Wales. Landcom understands the importance of constructing major infrastructure projects such as roads and bridges in the early stages of new developments to attract future residents,” she said.
“The ability to access a range of schools, transport and community facilities is a major consideration for residents moving into a new area.”
Stanhope Parkway is also an important services corridor for the western area of The Ponds including the Alex Avenue precinct. It provides improved access from Schofields Fire Station to The Ponds and Stanhope Gardens communities.
Alex Avenue is the next major development area to the west of The Ponds. Stanhope Parkway was initially designed as the critical east-west road link to Hambledon Road. It will also connect through Burdekin Road to Schofields. This road link will eventually provide a route for future bus connection between Quakers Hill station, The Ponds and Stanhope Gardens.
The Ponds is a 320 hectare master-planned community which is being developed by Landcom and Australand. It will comprise over 3,000 homes when complete.
